Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Birth Doula?
A birth doula is sort of like your best friend, especially surrounding labor and delivery!
There are a variety of doulas out there today that provide much needed support and assistance, especially in times of need and depending on what you are going through.
Birth Doulas do not deliver babies, but we do many things surrounding birth. Sometimes referred to as labor or delivery doulas, we assist with this time in a woman's life, birthing babies!
A Birth Doula can assist you with prenatal circumstances such as answering questions, advocating for your rights, researching what is best for you, and even mapping out a Birth Plan before labor.
A Birth Doula can help you work on breathing techniques, pain management, figuring out what your preferences are for labor, and what they are not.
When it comes time for birth we can be there from start to finish. Birth Doulas are trained and can provide lower back pressure, gentle massage or other physical assistance, a birth doula can even help your partner prepare and feel ready to jump into action when the time is right.
Most importantly a Birth Doula is there for you. To accept and advocate for all of your birth wishes. To ensure that your experience goes the way you want. To empower you to know you can do this, and you can do this well.
